Instat KIJHL 3 Stars for Week: Oct. 10

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is happy to announce its Instat 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 10. The stars are Ben Lewis from the Summerland Steam, Zakery Anderson from the Kamloops Storm, and Malachi Franklin of the Chase Heat.

Lewis – 1st Star – The West Kelowna native had a spectacular 59-save shutout performance to lead the Steam to a 2-0 win over the Revelstoke Grizzlies in his season debut. After turning aside 37 shots in the first and second period combined, Lewis faced another 22 in the final frame.

Anderson – 2nd Star – The hometown product helped the Storm defeat the Chase Heat 5-3, with a four-goal performance. His hat-trick goal was the winner in the second period. Anderson has six goals in four games, which leads the league.

Franklin – 3rd Star – The Cranbrook product collected four assists in two games to bump his season totals to six assists in four games. Franklin had three assists in a 4-2 win over the Sicamous Eagles, then collected an assist in a 5-3 loss to the Storm.
