Head Coach and General Manager, Nick Deschenes

Nick brings a wealth of experience behind the bench, with a strong coaching background in both the BCHL and other Junior leagues in Western Canada. His deep knowledge of the game and passion for player development make him an incredible addition to our organization,” the Heat said. “We’re excited to have Nick leading the charge as we gear up for a new chapter of Chase Heat hockey.”

James NorthropEquipment Manager

James is a 30 year resident of the Western Shuswap.  A retired Forester with Interfor-Adams Lake Division. The avid sportsman (ie: golf and softball) provides expertise, guidance and attention to details that makes life for the players Grade A. His professional approach to life also provides a day to day example to the players as they mature into fine young men. “Fiver” is the backbone of the Chase Heat organization

Lana Adamson: Billet Coordinator

Tyler Harper Team Chaplain

Tyler’s role with the team is to help explore big questions about meaning and purpose, while also dealing with the stressors of sports, school, and relationships. Tyler has served as pastor of Chase Evangelical Free Church since 2017 and as Chaplin for the Heat since 2021. Tyler holds a B.A. From the University of Winnipeg and advance degrees from Trinity Western University. As Chaplin, Tyler’s goal is that each person experiences life in all its fullness.

Steve Smyth,  President and Broadcaster, Chase Heat Hockey Society

Steve has been involved in all aspects of Minor and Junior hockey since 1973. A 35 year coaching career encompassed all levels of minor hockey from u7 to U18AAA. Steve has coached in the BC ” U18 Best Ever” Program with Team North,  both the BC and Northern BC Winter Games in male and female hockey and holds a Advanced Level one coaching certification, and mentored under NHL alumni Ken Hitchcock and Tom Renney. He has also served as a Minor Hockey executive member on Executive Boards in Terrace BC, Burns Lake BC, Quesnel BC and Chase BC.  As an administrator, Steve also helped lead Terrace BC to a National title, winning Kraft Hockeyville in 2009. He also leads the broadcast team on Flo Hockey and handles play by play duties for the Heat.  He is retired and lives in Chase with his wife Marsha.

HOCKEY SUPPORT STAFF

Where would the team be without support staff? Our trainers and team doctor are proficient and professional when called upon to attend to the players. First aid supplies are well stocked to provide immediate care for a variety of potential injuries or situations. The equipment management team is well prepared for any equipment problems that may arise. Equipment at the team’s disposal includes a portable skate sharpener and a rivet machine.
 
ARENA STAFF
