The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League has announced Shiva Singh of the Chase Heat as its Rookie of the Week, for the period ending Sept. 28/25.
The Surrey native scored twice and collected four assists in two games to help the Heat defeat the Sicamous Eagles and Fernie Ghostriders. Heat head coach-general manager Nick
Deschenes said Singh, a former Langley Hockey Academy U18 product, was a big part of their win against the Eagles and helped generate offence against the Ghostriders.
“He’s a player that has really good instincts and also walks a fine line trying things,” said Deschenes of the 5-9, 172-pound forward. “There is a bit of a risk element to his game, but he manages that pretty well. He goes to hard areas, he’s good at keeping puck possession and has great vision, so those things allow him to create more and he’s been rewarded for that.”
Singh, 18, leads all KIJHL rookies with nine points in four games.
