Heat’s Preymak set to fly with ACHA D2 Lewis University

Kaleb Preymak of the Chase Heat will play for the Lewis University Flyers, based in Romeoville, Ill., in the American Collegiate Athletic Association Division 2 next fall.

The Kamloops native led the Heat in points with 30 in 43 games.

“I am very excited to get back into school as well as playing the sport I love,” said Preymak. “I made huge strides with the Heat as a player and a person. Head coach-general manager Kyle Evans really helped market me to coaches and found a school that has the program I was looking for.”

“We’re proud to announce that Kaleb has committed to Lewis University to join the aviation program to become a pilot while continuing his hockey career,” said Evans. “It’s a really unique opportunity and shows another avenue that our players can take by coming to the KIJHL. The Lewis program is getting a first-class individual, a tremendous leader, and an excellent hockey player. Kaleb worked extremely hard this season and we’re excited to see what the future holds for him, both on and off the ice.”

Preymak made strides with his hockey IQ and passing ability. It’s the second straight season he led the Heat in points. Last season he scored 21 goals and 33 points in 39 games. In 118 KIJHL career regular season games, Preymak had 37 goals and 72 points. The Thompson Blazers U18 AAA product started his KIJHL career with the Revelstoke Grizzlies in 2022-23 before being traded to the Heat. He recorded eight points in 22 games that season.
