Josh David of the Chase Heat will play for the Lewis University Flyers, based in Romeoville, Ill., in the American Collegiate Athletic Association Division 2 next fall.
The Ponoka, Alta., native was second on the Heat with 23 points in 42 games. Over the past season David improved his leadership skills and played with more confidence.
“The Chase Heat gave me opportunities to improve myself everyday and put a lot of trust in the 20-year-old group,” said David. “Coach Kyle Evans was very helpful throughout the process of looking at all the schools and programs and assisted me.”
Evans said the Heat are very excited to announce David’s commitment to Lewis University.
“From day one, Josh has expressed a passion for aviation, but also wanted to continue hockey at the collegiate level,” said Evans. “Lewis has a fantastic pilot training program that will give him the opportunity to continue to play, while working towards his career goals of becoming a pilot. Lewis is getting an outstanding individual and hockey player. We’re extremely proud of his efforts this season and excited to see what the future holds for him, both on and off-the-ice.”
David, a product of the Leduc Oil Kings U18AAA program, began his KIJHL career with the Columbia Valley Rockies, then was traded to the Heat. In 118 career regular season games, David posted 51 points.
