Chase Heat Announce Kris Joyce as Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager

CHASE, B.C. — August 19, 2026 — The Chase Heat Hockey Society is today pleased to announce the hiring of Kris Joyce as the organization’s new Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager.

Joyce brings an impressive playing background and a wealth of hockey experience to the Heat. The Prince George, B.C. product enjoyed an outstanding junior career, including two seasons with the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, where he established himself as one of the league’s top goaltenders. His junior career also included time with the Sicamous Eagles of the KIJHL and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL. Following junior hockey, Joyce continued his career at the University of Windsor.

Joyce then moved into professional hockey where he attended the Los Angeles Kings camps before signing with Orlando and Quad City of the ECHL. Kris also played professionally in Norway and Sweden
Since his playing career, Joyce has continued to develop his knowledge of the game through coaching and player development, bringing valuable experience in goaltending for young players. He has also operates Kris Joyce Goaltending, providing training and personal coaching to young goaltenders across BC.

The Chase Heat believe Joyce’s combination of high-level playing experience, coaching knowledge and understanding of hockey development will be an important addition to the organization both on the bench and in hockey operations.

“We are extremely pleased to bring Kris into the Chase Heat organization,” said Chase Heat President Steve Smyth. “Kris has played at a high level and has experienced what it takes to compete, develop and succeed in hockey. He understands the demands placed on young players and what it takes to help them move forward. We believe he will be a significant asset to our coaching staff “.
As Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager, Joyce will work closely with the Heat Head Coach Nick Deschenes in player development, recruiting, hockey operations and day-to-day team activities.
